Guwahati’s Smart City Project Stalled Over Fund Approval Delay

Guwahati’s Smart City Project faces delays as the Centre has yet to approve ₹145 crore for waste management under Smart City Mission 2.0. The fund release is stalled due to the city’s garbage dumping site violating eco-sensitive zone regulations. Discussions are ongoing between Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL), the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), and the Centre to resolve the issue. The funds will support six key waste management projects once approved.
