Hasila, Urpad Beels to Become Reserve Forests; Tourism Plan Underway

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a tourism master plan for Hasila and Urpad Beels, now approved for reserve forest status. Kurmi Beel is also under consideration. Sarma emphasized ecological balance and sustainable tourism. He defended the ongoing eviction at Hasila Beel, vowing removal of all illegal settlers using satellite data. Opposition Congress condemned the eviction, calling it unlawful and a humanitarian crisis affecting over 4,000 people. Further eviction at Rakhyasini Pahar is being assessed.
