Himanta Biswa Sarma Targets Congress Manifesto, Predicts Big BJP Win in Assam

With nine days left for the Assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma intensified his attack on Congress while campaigning in Upper Assam, questioning the credibility of its manifesto.

Addressing rallies in Sissiborgaon and Sadiya, he alleged that the Congress lacked clear promises on jobs and education, and called its manifesto “unclear and ineffective.” He also criticised the involvement of Mallikarjun Kharge in the launch, terming it disrespectful to Assam.

Projecting poll results, Sarma claimed the Congress would secure only 15–17 seats in the 126-member Assembly, while the BJP would win between 90 and 100 seats.

He further accused the Opposition of misleading voters with unrealistic promises and clarified that justice in cases is delivered by the judiciary, not political leaders.

Expressing confidence in BJP’s governance record, Sarma said voters had already seen the difference compared to previous Congress rule and would deliver a decisive mandate.
