Hyderabad Police Arrest Guwahati Cybercriminal for Rs 4.82 Crore Extortion

Hyderabad police apprehended Elahi Baksa, a cybercriminal from Guwahati, for extorting Rs 4.82 crores from retired chief engineer J. Dakshina Murthy. The scam began on July 3 with a fraudulent call accusing Murthy of involvement in illegal activities. The caller, posing as police, fabricated a legal case and pressured Murthy to transfer funds under the guise of a “National Security Case.” Fearing damage to her reputation, Murthy complied. After reporting the incident, police traced the call to Guwahati and arrested Baksa, who confessed. He has been transported to Hyderabad for further proceedings.
