Illegal Felling of Over 100 Trees in Assam Amid Rising Global Warming Concerns

In the Bichan Kuchi area near the Kaldiya River in Assam’s Bajali district, over 100 trees were illegally cut down, exacerbating environmental concerns amidst global warming. Sankar Nath, a field officer of disaster management, witnessed the illegal activity and alerted forest officials. However, the culprits, wearing masks and equipped with tractors and cutter machines, fled before they could be apprehended. Nath emphasized the increasing temperatures and the threat this deforestation poses to the environment. He called on higher authorities to take action against those responsible, noting the Assam government’s efforts to combat global warming.
