IMD Issues Alert for Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms in Northeast India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted thunderstorms with lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall in Assam and other northeastern states until April 4. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati, a cyclonic circulation over North East Assam and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal will lead to these weather conditions. The alert includes expectations of light to moderate rainfall, with isolated occurrences of heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. An orange alert has been issued for March 31, followed by a yellow alert until April 4, highlighting the potential for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds at isolated locations in the region.
