IMD Issues Orange Alert for Heavy Rain in Assam

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Assam till May 3, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall across the state over the next few days.

According to the IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati, Assam has received 37% more rainfall than normal during the ongoing pre-monsoon season. From March 1 till now, the state recorded 336.6 mm rainfall against the normal 245.2 mm.

Several areas, including Goalpara, Rangia and Dhubri, witnessed significant rainfall in the past 24 hours.
