IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Assam as Cyclone Montha Weakens

Cyclone Montha, after hitting Andhra Pradesh, weakened into a deep depression over Andhra and Telangana, the IMD said. Assam has been placed under a yellow alert for October 31 and November 1, with forecasts of heavy rain and gusty winds in southern and central districts. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The IMD warned of local flooding, landslides, and advised residents to stay indoors, as rainfall intensity is likely to ease from November 2.
