IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Northeast Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the Northeast, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall until August 24. Assam and Meghalaya are expected to see isolated heavy rains, with Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura facing similar conditions from August 18 to 23. Arunachal Pradesh will likely experience heavy rainfall from August 21 to 24. The IMD also warned of potential flash floods in the region due to a developing low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal. Guwahati is already experiencing waterlogging, heightening the risk of urban flash floods.
