34 Tea Gardens Receive Grants Under Assam Tea Tourism Development Scheme Phase II

Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah distributed sanction letters to 34 tea gardens under the second phase of the Assam Tea Tourism Development Scheme. Each garden will receive up to Rs 2 crore to enhance infrastructure and amenities. The initiative aims to transform Assam’s tea heritage into a global tourism destination, promoting socio-economic growth in rural areas. This follows the first phase, which supported 22 tea gardens. Discussions were also held to improve sanitation and drinking water facilities in tea garden communities.
