India declares 305 new COVID-19 cases; the number of ongoing cases has decreased to 2,439

According to the most current data released by the health ministry on Wednesday (Jan 18), India recorded 305 new cases in a single day, reducing the total number of active cases to 2,439 overall. Health officials are keeping a tight eye on the issue as concerns about the latest outbreak and the potential arrival of cold weather that might cause a spike in population are becoming more pressing.

In the last twenty-four hours, there have been three reported deaths: one each from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
