Indian Army & IIT Guwahati Collaborate on Epoxy Bamboo-Based Bunker Panels

Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army and IIT Guwahati signed an MoU to develop epoxy bamboo-based composites as a lightweight alternative for bunkers in high-altitude areas. The project aims to enhance force preservation by reducing material transport efforts while maintaining protection levels. Field trials will assess durability against small-arms fire and extreme weather. The initiative aligns with the Army’s “Decade of Transformation” and promotes collaboration between military and academic institutions, supporting India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
