Indigenous Muslim Forum Formed for Development in Assam
A united forum of five indigenous Muslim groups—Garia, Moria, Sayed, Desi, and Jalaha—was formed during a recent meeting at the Sanmilita Yuva Samaj’s office in Namti Chariali. Led by writer Samsul Barik and attended by nearly 100 people, the forum aims to promote the development of Muslims in Assam.
A 41-member committee was created with Hyder Hussein as president. The forum, which is apolitical, also resolved to compile a historical account of the indigenous Muslims and pursue a democratic movement for their rights.
Separately, a three-phase entrepreneurship training for 620 beneficiaries under the Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan concluded in Sivasagar.
