Indo-Bhutan Symposium Begins at Gauhati University

GUWAHATI: Gauhati University hosted the opening day of the Indo-Bhutan Two-Day Symposium 2026, bringing together students, researchers and faculty members from Northeast India and Bhutan. Discussions focused on climate change, food security and holistic well-being, along with the exchange of research and academic perspectives.

The programme featured the Prof. H.K. Baruah Memorial Lecture, Prof. N.K. Das Memorial Research Innovation Award and the formal inauguration of the symposium, followed by talks and technical sessions involving academics from Gauhati University and the Royal University of Bhutan. Prof. Kumananda Tayung, Professor and Head of the Department of Botany, Gauhati University, is the Convener of the symposium.
