JE Death Toll in Assam Rises to 15, Combined AES-JE Fatalities Reach 60

Guwahati: The death toll from Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Assam has risen to 15 after five more deaths were reported. According to the National Health Mission (NHM), the combined fatalities from JE and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have reached 60 this year, including 45 AES-related deaths. The state has recorded 56 confirmed JE cases and nearly 500 AES cases so far. Health authorities have intensified surveillance, vaccination and hospital preparedness, while urging people to seek immediate medical care if they develop symptoms such as high fever, headache, vomiting or seizures.
