Jharkhand Forms Committee to Study Tea Tribes’ Condition in Assam
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, following concerns over the marginalization of tea tribes in Assam, has cleared a proposal to form a committee to study the condition of displaced tribals in Assam and other states. Soren highlighted that 15-20 lakh tribals, many working in Assam’s tea gardens, are still deprived of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and excluded from welfare schemes. The committee will assess issues like housing and employment, aiming to bring welfare measures for these communities. Soren also invited displaced tribals to return to Jharkhand.
