Joint Forces Destroy 53 Acres of Illegal Poppy Cultivation in Manipur

In a major anti-narcotics operation, a joint team of Manipur Police, CRPF, Forest Department and NCB destroyed illegal poppy crops spread over 53 acres in Kangpokpi district on January 7. The operation was conducted in the hill ranges of Moljol, Tusam and Vaichei-Naphai.

Security forces also dismantled and burnt seven huts and destroyed fertilisers, herbicides and equipment used for cultivation. Police said such joint drives will continue to curb illicit poppy farming and drug networks, following similar action in December 2025 when around 40 acres of poppy fields were cleared in Churachandpur district.
