Justice Biplab Sarma Backs Fast-Track Court in Zubeen Garg Case

Former Gauhati High Court judge Justice Biplab Kumar Sarma on Sunday said justice in the Zubeen Garg case could be expedited through a fast-track court, but cautioned against premature conclusions as the judicial process is ongoing.

Speaking in Tezpur, he stressed that arguments from all sides must be heard and urged people not to politicise the matter. Earlier, the Assam Cabinet approved setting up a dedicated fast-track court for day-to-day hearings, following public interest and the family’s demand for a swift trial. The state government will now request the Gauhati High Court to constitute an exclusive sessions court for the case.
