KAAC Replaces Business Registration with Trade License

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has replaced the Business Registration Certificate (BRC) with a trade license as the sole legal document for business operations in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. The change, approved in the 17th Executive Committee meeting, applies to both tribal and non-tribal residents. All 2025–26 BRCs will be converted into No Objection Certificates (NOCs), which must be submitted to the KAAC Taxation Department. The move aims to streamline licensing and improve compliance.
