Kamrup Metro District Adjusts School Timings Due to Heatwave

Amid rising temperatures, the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro District has rescheduled school timings for both government and private schools effective from May 27, 2024. The new timings are:

• L.P. Schools: 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• M.E. Schools: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• H.S. and H.S.S. Schools: 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Schools must also adhere to several directives to ensure student safety:

1. Conduct morning assemblies in classrooms or shaded areas.
2. Ensure electric fans are operational and promptly repair or replace any defective ones.
3. Allow students to forego blazers, waistcoats, and ties, and permit sandals if shoes are uncomfortable.
4. Inform parents immediately and seek medical assistance if any student shows signs of discomfort, and raise awareness among parents about precautions during the heatwave.
5. Continue the existing water bell ringing and morning assembly procedures.
