Kaziranga National Park Sets Record for Tourist Footfall in Late 2024

Kaziranga National Park welcomed a record 1.64 lakh tourists, including 6,429 foreigners, between October and December 2024, earning Rs 4.32 crore in entry fees.

Despite over 600 jeeps operating, heavy demand left many tourists unable to enjoy elephant and jeep safaris. New activities like bird watching, trekking, and cycling attracted more visitors, enhancing the park’s appeal.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma credited visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck for global attention. The 12th International Tourism Mart in November also boosted tourism.

The park’s success has uplifted local businesses, with one eco-shop selling wildlife-themed products worth Rs 47 lakh. Director Sonali Ghosh emphasized KNP’s commitment to sustainable, world-class tourism.
