Key Militant Behind Kokrajhar Rail Blast Killed in Police Encounter

Kokrajhar Police on Saturday killed Apil Murmu alias Rohit Murmu, a key suspect in the October 23 rail line blast near Kokrajhar station. Linked to the banned National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA) and Maoist networks, Murmu was killed during a search operation in Nadanguri hills. Police recovered a pistol, grenades, and ID cards from the site. SP Pusparaj Singh said Murmu was wanted for multiple crimes across Assam and Jharkhand. Several officers were injured in the encounter, while a manhunt continues for other NSLA members hiding in the area.
