Kopili Hydropower Project to Be Inaugurated in 10 Days: Himanta Biswa Sarma

On the final day of the 15th Assam Assembly, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the long-pending 150 MW Kopili Hydroelectric Project will be inaugurated within 10 days. An additional 25 MW capacity at the plant is also being restored. He said Assam now receives 22–23 hours of uninterrupted power daily, with the state’s power utility ranked fifth in efficiency nationwide. Sarma highlighted ongoing solar and hydropower initiatives, including a 70 MW solar plant in Dhubri and new projects to strengthen Assam’s renewable energy capacity ahead of elections.
