Labour Ministry to Enable EPFO Withdrawals at ATMs by 2025

The Labour Ministry is upgrading IT systems to allow EPFO subscribers to withdraw funds directly from ATMs by January 2025. Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra emphasized the initiative’s aim to simplify processes and improve ease of living. The Ministry is also finalizing social security benefits for gig and platform workers, including health coverage and financial support. The Code on Social Security, 2020, forms the basis for these advancements. Dawra highlighted declining unemployment rates, now at 3.2%, and increased workforce participation.
