Lakhimpur District Marks International Day Against Drug Abuse with Awareness Initiatives

To commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the District Social Welfare Department of Lakhimpur launched several initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to raise public awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. An awareness program was held at Khora Higher Secondary School, in collaboration with the district administration and Khora Pathar Sanmilito Yuva Samaj (IRCA), Bihpuria.

The event featured an awareness rally and sessions on the biological, psychological, and social factors leading to substance abuse. Medical officers discussed drug tolerance, dependency, and withdrawal symptoms. Officials from the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) explained the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and promoted the toll-free helpline 14446. Additional activities included miking, pledge-taking against substance abuse, awareness rallies by ICDS Projects, and a slogan writing competition.
