Lakwa Thermal Power Station Employees Protest Against Privatization

Employees of Lakwa Thermal Power Station (LTPS) staged a protest on Friday against the alleged privatization of India’s power sector. Responding to a nationwide call by electricity employees’ associations, they raised slogans against the Modi government and demanded a rollback of privatization policies.

Protesters highlighted that privatization since 1991 has led to higher power tariffs without significant benefits. They expressed solidarity with power sector protests in Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh, opposing moves to privatize entities like the Damodar Valley Corporation and Rajasthan Electricity Board.
