Major Drug Seizures in Sootea and Guwahati Highlight Ongoing Crackdown

A significant consignment of contraband was recovered in Itakhola, Sootea, following a police raid on the residence of suspected narcotics peddler Anil Pathak. Sootea and Itakhola police seized 8 kg of ganja from Pathak’s home in Ahubari locality and arrested him. Legal action has been initiated, and Pathak is being interrogated.

In a related crackdown, Government Railway Police (GRP) seized over 10 kg of ganja from the Tripura Sundari Express at Guwahati Railway Station. Acting on a tip-off, GRP conducted a detailed search, uncovering 15 packets of ganja weighing 10.228 kg hidden among passengers’ belongings. Three individuals, including juveniles, were arrested and are under investigation.

This operation follows a similar bust last month on the same train, where GRP confiscated 89.1 kg of ganja from two individuals traveling from Agartala, Tripura to Bihar, indicating a broader smuggling network. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking through railway networks.
