Major Eviction Drive Clears 38 Bighas of Encroached Land in Nagaon

The Nagaon administration, along with police and forest officials, carried out an eviction drive in Rupahihat on Friday, clearing 38 bighas of government and forest land allegedly occupied by illegal settlers. Over 100 families had been issued notices beforehand, and around 80% vacated voluntarily.

More than 1,000 police personnel and four bulldozers were deployed to ensure smooth execution. The move follows a similar eviction in Lutamaari on November 29, where nearly 1,700 families were identified on protected land.

Authorities said more eviction operations will continue to reclaim government and forest land across the district.
