Major Fire Engulfs Shillong Bar Association Building; Chief Minister Assesses Situation

A significant fire erupted last night at the Shillong Bar Association building located near the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) East Khasi Hills around 10:00 PM. Firefighters swiftly responded to the incident, although the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister, visited the site of the fire to assess the situation. Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Sangma suggested that the fire may have been caused by electrical conditions. He expressed relief that there were no reported casualties but conveyed concern about the potential loss of documents and infrastructure affected by the blaze. The Chief Minister assured the public that the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking measures to minimize the damage.
