Man Beheads Daughter on Moving Train in Assam, Woman Co-Passenger Missing

A man identified as Sunil Murmu has been arrested for allegedly beheading his six-year-old daughter aboard the Dekargaon–Murkongselek passenger train in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
The incident occurred between Kathalpukhuri and Silanibari stations. Eyewitnesses said the accused attacked the child with a sharp weapon inside a coach and later tried to assault a passenger who confronted him.
Murmu reportedly jumped off the train near Silanibari and attempted to flee but was chased by locals and caught in a nearby village before being handed over to police.
Authorities suspect mental instability, though it is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, police are searching for an unidentified woman who was travelling with Murmu and the child, as her role remains unclear.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and full sequence of events.
