Man Declared Dead in Meghalaya Coal Mine Blast Returns Home Alive After Three Days

A coal mine labourer from Ratabari in Assam’s Sribhumi district, declared dead after a blast in an illegal coal mine in Meghalaya, returned home alive three days after his family performed his last rites.
Shyambabu Sinha, reported missing after the February 5 explosion in East Khasi Hills that killed 31 workers, was mistakenly identified as deceased by his family based on a body shown at Khliehriat Civil Hospital. The family cremated the body, believing it to be his.
To their shock, Sinha appeared at his home shortly after shraddha rituals concluded. Meghalaya Police have launched an inquiry into the misidentification and are verifying the identity of the cremated body.
