Man Strangles Wife to Death in Assam’s Jorhat District

In a gruesome incident in Assam’s Jorhat district, a woman was strangled to death by her husband in Pulibor on Sunday. The woman, Manju Kurmi (40), had been living with her husband, Balu Kurmi (45), and their well-educated daughter at Sarusarai in West Jorhat under Pulibor Police Station. Recently, unrest had broken out in the family, with Balu often returning home drunk and getting into conflicts with Manju.

On Sunday, Balu lost control and brutally strangled Manju to death in her bedroom. After the incident, locals apprehended Balu, tied him to a tree, and alerted the police. The police rescued Balu from the agitated crowd and took him to the police station, where he was detained in connection with the crime. The police are currently interrogating him to determine the cause of his brutal attack.
