Manas National Park Reopens on October 2 as Rhino Conservation Shows Progress

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the success of rhino conservation in Manas National Park, stating that the population has grown from zero to over 50, with no rhino poaching reported for three consecutive years. He described the park as an underrated gem and encouraged tourists to explore its rich wildlife and natural beauty.

Manas National Park will reopen to tourists on October 2 for the 2026–27 tourism season following its annual monsoon closure. A special programme will mark the reopening, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park’s different ranges will continue to observe their respective weekly closure schedules.
