Manipur Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking and Illegal Poppy Cultivation

Manipur police arrested ten suspects in Kangpokpi district in two separate anti-narcotics raids. Six drug traffickers were caught with 174 soap cases of suspected brown sugar and a four-wheeler.

In another raid, four individuals were apprehended for illegal poppy cultivation at Songjang village. All suspects have been handed over to the police for legal action.

Earlier this year, 4.8 hectares of illicit poppy fields were destroyed in Senapati district as part of Manipur’s war on drugs.
