Mega Textile Conclave in Guwahati to Boost Handloom and Handicrafts

Union Minister Pabitra Margherita announced a mega textile conclave in Guwahati to promote the handloom and handicraft sector. The event will involve Northeast government departments, industry stakeholders, and social entities to explore new opportunities.

Highlighting Assam’s unique Muga silk, Margherita expressed optimism about expanding global export avenues and supporting local weavers. The government aims to establish weaving and apparel manufacturing plants in the Northeast, leveraging its strategic position as a gateway to ASEAN countries. Measures to support Barak Valley weavers are also being planned.
