Meghalaya and Assam Make Progress on Border Dispute

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has reported significant progress in resolving the long-standing border dispute with Assam. In collaboration with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, 6 out of 12 disputed areas have been settled, with discussions ongoing for the remaining 6.

The dispute, rooted in unclear state boundaries since the 1970s, has seen limited resolution despite numerous meetings. Sangma emphasized the need to finalize the matter, noting that some areas are more complex than others.
