Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on illegal mining and transportation of coal
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday told the Assembly that the state government is leaving no stone unturned to stop the illegal mining and transportation of coal.
He further said 1,652 cases related to illegal transportation of coal have been registered in the state. Of the 1,652 cases registered till August 31, chargesheets have been submitted in 1,354 cases and 472 people have been convicted.
Replying to a call attention motion moved by Mawlai legislator PT Sawkmie on the fifth day of the autumn session, Sangma claimed all possible steps were being taken to discourage the illegal activities. “The district administration (concerned) is taking punitive penal actions.
