Meghalaya Coal Probe: Dima Hasao DC and Assam Govt Under Scrutiny

The BP Katakey Commission on illegal coal mining urged action against Dima Hasao DC Simanta Kr Das for alleged inaction during the Umrangso coal crisis. Congress leaders accused the Assam government of protecting a coal syndicate, alleging involvement of ministers and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. FIRs were filed against Minister Debolal Garlosa and his wife for illegal mining violations, including the Supreme Court and NGT bans.
