Meghalaya Government Announces ₹140 Crore Road Upgrade in South West Khasi Hills

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma laid the foundation stone for the ₹140-crore upgradation of the Weiloi–Mawkyrwat–Rangthong road in South West Khasi Hills. Funded under the state scheme, the project is expected to improve connectivity to markets, healthcare and educational facilities while supporting tourism, agriculture and trade.

Sangma said more than ₹850 crore worth of projects have been implemented in South West Khasi Hills since 2018, with the government’s total commitment nearing ₹990 crore. He emphasised that development should extend beyond Shillong and reach communities across the state.
