Microsoft Offers Voluntary Buyouts to 60,000 Employees Amid Rising AI Investments

Microsoft has announced voluntary buyout offers for approximately 60,000 employees, representing nearly 27% of its global workforce, as the technology giant seeks to reduce costs while increasing investments in artificial intelligence.
The offer covers eligible employees in the United States, Canada, India and the United Kingdom, although certain departments are excluded. This marks Microsoft’s second voluntary exit programme this year, following an early retirement offer in April. The announcement comes ahead of the company’s quarterly earnings report.
