Mising Groups Protest Proposal to Grant ST Status to Six Communities

Ethnic Mising organisations in Dhemaji staged large torch rallies opposing the demand to grant Scheduled Tribe status to Tai-Ahom and five other communities. Protesters argued the move would harm the rights and reservation benefits of existing ST groups. They accused the proposal of being a political conspiracy and urged the government not to proceed.
