Missing Jorhat Boy Rescued from Kanpur, Woman Arrested

JORHAT: A four-year-old boy who went missing from Jorhat on August 14 was rescued from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and brought back to Assam on Sunday. Jorhat Police also arrested a woman in connection with the case.
The child, a resident of Panisokuwa, had reportedly gone missing from near Lachit Bazar in Jorhat town. Following an investigation, police traced the boy to Kanpur and recovered him with assistance from the Kanpur Railway Police.
The police team arrived with the child at Mariani railway station early Sunday before taking him to Jorhat Sadar Police Station. The case was registered after the boy’s family lodged an FIR at Pulibor Police Station.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance and how he was taken from Jorhat to Uttar Pradesh. The role of other persons, including those connected to the case, is also under investigation.
