Mizoram Expands Rubber Mission Amid Assam Border Tensions

A week after tensions over rubber plantations on the Assam-Mizoram border, Mizoram approved expansion of its Rubber Mission by 173 hectares in Mamit district. CM Lalduhoma assured support, including 100 subsidised rubber processing machines. The mission’s second phase now covers 2,400 hectares statewide, with NABARD funding half and the rest under the state’s “Handholding” scheme. Recently, Mizoram alleged Assam officials damaged 290 rubber plants, but the border situation is currently peaceful under tight vigilance.
