Mizoram Signs Peace Accord, Ends Decades-Long Hmar Insurgency

The Mizoram government signed a peace accord with the Lalhmingthanga Sanate-led faction of the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic), marking the end of insurgency in the state. The agreement includes development plans for the Sinlung Hills region, better infrastructure, and recognition of the Sikpui Ruoi festival.

Around 43 cadres will surrender and join mainstream society, with a ceremony scheduled on April 30. Officials called it a historic step, concluding decades of militancy and focusing on long-term development and stability in the region.
