Mobile Internet Restored in Karbi Anglong After Situation Normalises

Mobile internet services were restored on Sunday in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong after authorities noted an improvement in the law and order situation. An order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Tewari revoked the suspension from 8 am, directing all service providers to resume operations.
Officials said normalcy is gradually returning, with markets reopening, though strict security vigil and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita remain in force. Congress leaders visited families of violence victims and blamed the BJP-led state government for alleged negligence.
The unrest, which left 173 security personnel injured, stemmed from tensions over alleged encroachments on grazing reserve lands. Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured protesters that the state would seek an early hearing from the Gauhati High Court on the eviction-related stay.
