Monsoon Set for Final Surge in Northeast with Heavy Rains Forecast
The monsoon in the Northeast is expected to deliver one last surge before withdrawing. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam from October 1 to 5, with widespread light to moderate rains in Assam and Meghalaya.
Rainfall activity is expected across the other Northeastern states, with heavy rains anticipated from October 2 to 4. The IMD estimates monsoon withdrawal will likely occur by mid-October.
Recent rains have reduced Assam’s rainfall deficit from 62% to 48%.
