Residents of South Salmara are grappling with a grim discovery as an unidentified body was found in the Brahmaputra River at a ferry ghat in Dutiya Khanda (Pukamari). The victim, identified as Kamal Sheikh from Shaliyar Tek village in West Garo Hills district, had been missing since the 7th, plunging his family into distress. The circumstances of his death remain mysterious, with locals shocked by the sight of his lifeless body wrapped in a plastic bag. The South Salmara police swiftly initiated an investigation upon retrieval of the body, aided by personal effects found at the scene. Despite challenges in identification and the absence of Sheikh’s mobile phone, his family insists on a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind his untimely demise.
