Assam Police’s Vigilance Unit Strikes Against Corruption: Senior PHE Official Arrested

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (VAC) of Assam police has achieved significant progress in its fight against corruption, with a recent arrest highlighting their efforts. Jayanta Goswami, an Executive Engineer in the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, was apprehended for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 to expedite pending bills. VAC conducted a meticulous investigation and caught Goswami red-handed during a bribery exchange. Subsequent searches at his residence in Guwahati yielded a substantial amount of cash, totaling Rs. 79,87,500. The arrest underscores law enforcement’s commitment to rooting out corruption and promoting transparency within governmental institutions. VAC’s ongoing efforts signal a clear message that corrupt practices will face legal repercussions, reinforcing their dedication to upholding ethical governance.
