Nagaon District Launches Malaria Prevention Month with Awareness Campaign
The District Malaria Department in Nagaon kicked off “Malaria Prevention Month” on Monday with a ceremony at Nagaon BP Civil Hospital. The campaign, inaugurated by Dr. Phani Pathak, Joint Director of District Health Services, aims to combat carrier-borne diseases like malaria and dengue. Dr. Pathak, along with other senior physicians, emphasized the importance of keeping surroundings clean and taking preventive measures during summer and monsoon seasons. They advised parents to avoid stagnant water near homes and to consult local ASHA workers and health professionals if any symptoms appear.
The event included notable participants such as former Joint Director Dr. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kabita Baruah, and district malaria officer Santana Sharma, among others. A parade was also held to raise public awareness. As of now, 13 malaria cases have been reported in the district, with no dengue cases detected.
