NDA Set to Win 90+ Seats in Assam, Claims Sarbananda Sonowal

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed confidence that the NDA will secure over 90 seats in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
He credited the NDA’s prospects to a decade of development under Narendra Modi and strong public support during campaign rallies. Sonowal also downplayed the Opposition alliance led by Congress, stating it lacks grassroots presence.
Highlighting welfare schemes, he said women voters and beneficiaries of government initiatives form a strong support base for the NDA.
On rebel candidates, Sonowal said they would not impact results, as voters understand such votes would be ineffective. He also described the decision to field candidates against Akhil Gogoi as a strategic move.
Campaigning in Jorhat, Sonowal claimed BJP candidate Hitendra Nath Goswami holds an advantage over Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, citing his clean image and stronger party network.
